‏To the Almighty Lord, we belong, and to him we return. The process of burial can be very stressful at a time when the family is bereaved – we are here to help and assist you with the process.

We recommend the following steps:

  1. Contact the Funeral Director: At a local level, St. James Funeral Home works with several local masjids familiar with Muslim burial practices (631-584-5200). Alternatively, you can choose any other funeral director of your choice. Pricing varies and we suggest that you shop around.
  2. Contact your local Masjid to help you secure a gravesite, where the deceased will be buried. The following. Masajid Have gravesites available and you can contact them directly.

    • Mevlana Masjid, Terryville Road, NY (631-522-2240)
    • Masjid Darul Quran, Bayshore, NY (631-665-9462)
  3. Alternatively, you can contact the burial ground directly. Usually, their prices are higher

4.  Arrange for washing the body (Ghusl): Your funeral Director will help you arrange this. The following local Masjid have. Ghusl services in-house

5 . Set up a time for Janaza prayer with your local Masjid

6 . Proceed to the burial ground after the Janaza prayer. Your funeral Director will facilitate the transfer arrangements.
